If you are visiting Nashville GO TO MERCHANTS!! Everything is and was perfect! The atmosphere is not only unique but lovely! I absolutely love how they haven't done anything to make it look new they have just done a fantastic job on upkeep and cleaning! Our server was outstanding! Friendly & attentive. The food was AMAZING! Duck fat tater tots with house made ketchup...so good! Deviled eggs with spicy (not too spicy) pickles were just down right yummy! The salads my husband and I got were delicious and had some of the best cook chicken I've ever had on them! They make mammoth sweet potato fries that are to die for! Their burgers are moist and delicious and they make a fantastic veggie burger. If we were in Nashville for more than the day we would have eaten there again for sure! They do get busy pretty quick so your best bet oils to make reservations, even for lunch, to make sure you can get a table.
This was by far the best place we ate while in Nashville. Our waiter was nice and funny. His service was top notch. The food was delicious. The popcorn was probably the best popcorn I've ever had, and the seasoning on it had us all guessing what it was. We came here after a disappointing experience at Black Rabbit. No regrets. This place is fantastic.
Merchants is everything! Fine dining on the top floors, a full bar and Cafe on the main floor- Merchants is a long time favorite. It's got that Old Grand Nashville feel with a tasty home-spun spark. Marble, Brass, Wood and good service make ya feel at home. It's wise to make reservations for fine dining, but for a quick bite or a drink, swing on by and have a seat. Merchants also helps support The Nashville Rescue Mission, so stuff your face and feel good about it.
My husband and I stopped on our way through town. We were saving room for dessert later, so we ordered light. Our server was polite and thoughtful. The bathrooms already needed a cleaning and it was only 5pm when we arrived. Maybe 1 of the 3 hostesses could have tended to that rather than standing around chatting. Food: My husband never received his sweet tea...we didn't follow up...otherwise, I'm sure our server would have taken care of it. Even though we asked the food to be brought out in stages, it was prepared and brought at the same time. The chicken fried chicken - My was it delicious! I wish it had about 10-20% more gravy...but, even without, the food was well prepared and so yummy. The pimento dip was too spicy for me to eat (even though I asked about the spice level when we ordered) but my husband enjoyed it. It is a great group appetizer. From what I perceived as a nicer establishment, I would have thought they'd have offered to sub the dish out or removed it from our bill. Instead, I left hungry, with a slightly upset stomach (due to the spice), and $12 poorer. We would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good food.
Wonderful experience was great to have a restaurant in walking distance of my hotel that wasn't loud with a band and more upscale on a Wednesday lunch. I had artichoke dip, grilled chicken sandwich and cosmopolitans all to die for. Manager checked on me twice to see if I needed help with my order and then to check on my dining experience. The restaurant was packed and this is a rarity these days for management to check on guests and added on to my experience. Great hostess and bartenders ( I sat at bar). Would not chose another restaurant for lunch when I am back in!
